I was a gruelling 12 hour days cleaning floors and taking wallpaper down with one child strapped on my back while the other babies were playing into the playpen. Ha! We were getting close to being done, yet it was still a long distance to go. The project would require lots of time and money and my personal favorite brands to furnish this home. In order to stay within my budget, I started going to estate sales with three brothers to search for diamonds in the rough. Every week, we would walk through estate sales and garage sales on Saturdays and Thursdays and purchase a variety of new and old pieces. Then I would spend working on my projects on our front lawn. The furniture I found looked like... this is when my desire to repair furniture began. When our house was completed, I was unable to stop! In the market in town I was able to rent a tiny area and then sold a few objects. I was able to outgrow the market because I had many more pieces than I needed. Then I began hosting open houses at my house that saw more than 1 000 visitors could visit in the span of a weekend. They could purchase anything they wanted on the first floor. That's how my company Growing Days was born. Alongside my flourishing company, I also started our family. Being a new mom, I found the right balance to both start my own company and being a decent mother. Growing Days just seemed to fit. The year 2013 was the year my daughter Nora was our fourth baby. The direction my company was heading was fantastic, but I needed to take some time off. I made the decision to take a break and stay at home, with my kids. It was exactly what I needed at the time. The phone rang again after several minutes. They asked for assistance with interior decorating and home renovations. Many of the people calling me were people who had came to my house at one of my furniture open house events. It didn't seem long until I managed a large-scale business for home improvement. I began by taking clients at a pace that I was at ease with. If you'd told me that my business would be an idea for the DIY Network show, I likely would have thought you were crazy. Actually I still kind of laugh when I think about the idea.
